It has been a very busy couple of months with concerts for me this year which is actually quite unusual after the bustle of the holiday season. So here we are at the end of February (Happy Sadie Hawkins Day…Ladies) and I have yet to send out an update. We’ll here’s an update for you. I’ll soon be bundling up in a parka and making my way to the land of smiles otherwise known as Yorkton Saskatchewan for what is going to be a sold out event for sure! Concert time is 2:00 pm on Sunday March 9th 2012 at the Anne Portnuff Theatre. Just so you know this photo was taken from the Burn’s night Gala held last month at the Silver Bridge Inn. It was a great evening with Kilts-a-plenty with lot’s of Scotch, bagpipes and haggis!

Hipposonic

Last Monday I had the privilege to spend the day with Dave “Rave” Ogilvie in the Vancouver studio of Hipposonic Records. He had come on board to remix some tracks as I prepare to release some singles on iTunes and the rest of the digital universe. It was a real pleasure to be a fly on the wall for most of the session as I watched Rave work the console. I really admire his professionalism, and stamina, but moreover the intense focus it takes to listen to a song and zero in on the minutest detail and massage it ‘till it sits snug in the track, right where it should. It has been a few months since I’ve last been in a studio and I really got a good vibe from the folks at Hipposonic they were courteous and professional (expected) but also extremely friendly and and enthusiastic which makes an artist, or anyone for that matter, feel totally at home. I feel reinvigorated from that session and now am feeling so incredibly optimistic about the future of this project. We weren’t completely done until the first two periods of game 6 of the Stanley Cup final were over. Despite the sad news of Raymond’s injury and the ensuing loss by the Canucks, none of that seemed to really dampen my mood at all, as it would have in the past… besides we all knew the final was going to 7 games anyway. Go Canucks!

I was so inspired by Gilbert Brulé’s pick up of a hitchhiker that turned out to be Bono that hearing the story on the car radio I picked up the next hitchhiker I saw. He said my stopping to pick him up restored his faith in humanity. And after some quick chit chat it turned out he only needed a ride to the nearest bar cause his wife just told him she wanted a divorce….Riiiiiiiiiiiiight okay – all I could think to say was “glad I could help?” >awkward<
