I am very excited to be launching my new site. It is highly interactive with all sorts of interesting social media links, you tube channels, twitter feeds and all sorts of other things that I’m slowly learning about. Please let me know what you think of the new site and please pass it along to friends. I’ll be doing my best to keep fresh content and weekly blogs updated. I hope you continue to enjoy the great weather and good luck to those of you who are returning (or returning your children) to school.

Last Monday I had the privilege to spend the day with Dave “Rave” Ogilvie in the Vancouver studio of Hipposonic Records. He had come on board to remix some tracks as I prepare to release some singles on iTunes and the rest of the digital universe. It was a real pleasure to be a fly on the wall for most of the session as I watched Rave work the console. I really admire his professionalism, and stamina, but moreover the intense focus it takes to listen to a song and zero in on the minutest detail and massage it ‘till it sits snug in the track, right where it should. It has been a few months since I’ve last been in a studio and I really got a good vibe from the folks at Hipposonic they were courteous and professional (expected) but also extremely friendly and and enthusiastic which makes an artist, or anyone for that matter, feel totally at home. I feel reinvigorated from that session and now am feeling so incredibly optimistic about the future of this project. We weren’t completely done until the first two periods of game 6 of the Stanley Cup final were over. Despite the sad news of Raymond’s injury and the ensuing loss by the Canucks, none of that seemed to really dampen my mood at all, as it would have in the past… besides we all knew the final was going to 7 games anyway. Go Canucks!

I was so inspired by Gilbert Brulé’s pick up of a hitchhiker that turned out to be Bono that hearing the story on the car radio I picked up the next hitchhiker I saw. He said my stopping to pick him up restored his faith in humanity. And after some quick chit chat it turned out he only needed a ride to the nearest bar cause his wife just told him she wanted a divorce….Riiiiiiiiiiiiight okay – all I could think to say was “glad I could help?” >awkward<

Looking at him tell these stories with charm and humility we see beyond the seriousness and intensity of his singing and get that rare glimpse at the man behind the legend. A generous, affable man who never got caught up in hyperbole that always surrounded his voice.
Luciano Pavarotti recounts some \”embarassing moments on stage\”

Two days ago I was out on my father-in-law’s boat enjoying a beautiful sunny morning, and like the careful boater that I am, I brought my cell phone with me. Just in case, right? It would never have occurred to me not to bring it, yet as I was putting the phone in the pocket of my PFD there was one moment where I thought, “It would really suck if my phone fell overboard” I almost feel that by nurturing that very thought I may have set the wheels of fate in motion. As we pulled into a sheltered cove on Tent Island I leaned over to see if the water was shallow enough to jump into and – “Ker-Splash”. It actually took me a few moments to realize what had happened I honestly thought that some one was throwing stones at the boat. I gazed through the clear salt water to the white sands below to see my iPhone staring back at me. Arrrggghhh!!! I was able to retrieve the phone and shake the water out the bottom and I even opened it up on the advice of my brother-in-law to dry it further, but there is no way it is ever going to work for me again.

Now I’ve had that phone for three years with out incident, a fact that has been a source of pride because I have a history of being a wee bit careless with my gadgets. The phone itself was getting to the end of it’s life anyway so I wasn’t that heart broken at the loss or even ashamed of my clumsiness in front of my uber-careful father in law. Now, however, I’m faced with the chore of getting a new phone and I need some help slogging through the endless options of what to get. I liked my iPhone but found that recently I was using it less and less so I’m really unsure of whether or not I would miss the functionality of it if I went with a less flashy option. I was talking with a salesmen at a local shop and he recommended I go to my cell carrier and see if I could talk my way into some kind of awesome deal… Sounds like a bit too much work to me.

So I’m asking anyone out there if they’ve had a similar experience and perhaps have some insight into potential next moves or, better yet, what not to do.
